For carbon monoxide protection, position detectors near potential sources of CO, maintaining a distance of 5-20 feet from sources like water heaters, furnaces, and space heaters. Avoid placing them too close to prevent false alarms.
Install detectors near your attached garage to monitor CO emissions from running vehicles, which can become hazardous in enclosed spaces.
Position detectors approximately 6 inches above or below the wall, and if ceiling-mounted, ensure they're at least 6 inches away from the wall.
Maintain a distance of 5 to 15 feet from fuel-burning appliances.
